The Pet Companion — Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all services provided by The Pet Companion (Claire Whitaker). By signing this contract you confirm you have read, understood and agreed to all of the following.
1. Services The Pet Companion offers dog walking (max 2–3 dogs), pet visits, full day sits and overnight home stays across Hampshire. All services are carried out personally by Claire Whitaker.
2. Bookings & Payment All bookings must be confirmed in writing. A completed signed onboarding contract is required before any service begins. Payment is due in full before or on the first day of the booking. 50% deposit may be requested upon booking. Peak supplements apply over weekends, bank holidays and Christmas/New Year.
3. Cancellations More than 7 days' notice — full refund or no charge.
3–7 days' notice — 50% of the booking fee charged.
Less than 72 hours' notice — full fee charged.
The Pet Companion may cancel in exceptional circumstances with a full refund and as much notice as possible.
4. Pet Health & Vaccinations: All pets must be up to date with vaccinations, flea treatment and worming. Your pet must be in good health at the time of booking. Any known health conditions, behavioural issues or medication must be disclosed in full. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in termination of the booking.
5. Dog Walking: Maximum 2–3 dogs per walk. Dogs must be comfortable with other dogs. Dogs must walk on a lead unless explicit written permission for off-lead walking has been given. Dogs must wear a collar with a current ID tag as required by law. The Pet Companion reserves the right to refuse to walk a dog displaying aggressive or unmanageable behaviour.
6. Home Visits & Overnight Stays: Your home will be treated with full care and respect. Access details must be provided before the booking begins. Sufficient food, supplies and medication must be left for the full duration. The Pet Companion is not responsible for pre-existing property damage or damage caused by your pet. Claire will not invite guests to your property during any stay. All cameras inside the house need to be off & put away during homestays to protect privacy of The Pet Companion. Outside cameras are fine to be left on for safety & insurance purposes.
7. Emergency & Veterinary Care: In an emergency Claire will make every effort to contact you or your emergency contact before seeking treatment. If contact cannot be made, Claire reserves the right to seek emergency veterinary treatment in your pet's best interests. All costs remain the owner's responsibility.
8. Social Media: With your consent, The Pet Companion may share photos or short videos of your pet(s) on social media. No personal information, owner details, home address or property images will ever be shared. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting Claire directly.
9. Liability: The Pet Companion carries public liability insurance. The Pet Companion cannot be held liable for illness, injury or death caused by pre-existing conditions, undisclosed health issues or circumstances beyond reasonable control. The owner accepts full responsibility for any injury or damage caused by their pet to a third party, another animal or property. Pet insurance is strongly recommended.
10. Meet & Greet: A free meet & greet is required before a first overnight booking and recommended for all new clients.
11. Privacy: All personal data is held securely and used solely for the purpose of providing the agreed service. Data will not be shared with third parties except where required by law or in a genuine emergency. You may request deletion of your data at any time.
12. General: These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The Pet Companion reserves the right to update these terms at any time.
